RENO DIAGNOSTIC CENTERS VALUES SAFETY
RENO, Nev. (February 25, 2016) – Reno Diagnostic Centers (RDC) is proud to have one of the first certified Magnetic Resonance Safety Officers (MRSO) in the area on site at RDC.
In medical imaging, safety and protocol is important to operate with efficiency, accuracy and patient safety. RDC works hard to maintain the highest levels of safety and are proud to have one of the very first certified safety officers on site. The MRSO certification provides education and training to the safety officer so that they can implement safety practices, improve patient screening processes and improve patient safety.
MRI (Magnetic Resonance Imaging) is one of the most widely used medical imaging studies performed. This modality sees a high rate of patients and because of that; there is an increase in safety issues and possible injury. RDC averages 50+ MRI scans per day, which is considered high volume.
At RDC, Sina Alacano is the newly certified MRSO MRI Technologist. She has been with RDC for 16 years and takes great pride in her work, “It’s important to me that we are always working to improve the patient experience. Safety is a top priority and it ensures we are effectively giving the patient the best images needed while taking into account their well-being with proper safety measures.”
RDC plans to certify additional technologists in the near-future. Being a technology leader in the community also means taking the extra steps to ensure the best safety practices. Terri Mahannah, Executive Director at Reno Diagnostic Centers, “We are proud of our growing list of ‘firsts’ in northern Nevada. Being a leader in the community is important to us and we have always been ahead of the curve with advancing technology in medical imaging. Now we’re proud to also say we are the first in the area to have a certified MRI safety officer on site. Patient safety is a primary concern for us. Once we learned about the new MRSO certification, we were eager to certify a staff member and we now have plans to have all of our technologists certified.”
