MRI scans cannot be performed on people with a cardiac pacemaker, brain aneurysm clips, metallic inner ear prosthetics or metallic fragments in the eye.
No special preparation is required unless IV contrast is ordered. If IV contrast is ordered the patient should not have anything to eat or drink 2 hours prior exam time. If the patient has high blood pressure, diabetes or history of kidney disease lab results must be available within the previous 6mos. If there are no lab results available then the patient can have the required lab test done at RDC. Please arrange for the ISTAT lab at the time of scheduling if no previous lab results are available.
If Xanax sedation is required, patient needs to arrange for this at time of scheduling and must arrive 45 minutes early. Patient must have a driver.
Music is available except on the 3T. You may bring your own cassette or CD if you prefer. We provide earplugs for ALL patients.
